Brass is a metal alloy made of copper and zinc. Did you know that brass is also a sustainable material? Over 90% of brass world wide is recycled. We love it because it is durable, beautiful and more affordable than gold :)
Since brass will oxidize, giving the pieces a unique and natural patina over time, here are a few tips to keeping your pieces looking their best:
- To delay the oxidation process and keep the pieces as polished a possible, store your jewelry in the cloth bag wee send and keep it away from heat or sunlight
- Avoid contact with water, lotion and perfume. They don't mix well with brass. Also, remember to take your jewelry off before physical activity or going to sleep
If you prefer a bright sheen, they are two ways to give your brass a quick polish:
- Use a brass polish, like Brasso and wipe with a paper towel or soft cloth.
- Mix lemon juice and baking soda into a paste, rub onto the surface of the brass with a cloth, rinse and buff dry!
